New Artist: Ogechi Chieke

I'm going to try to announce and discuss more work by emerging artists in this space. I've been seeing Ogechi at all the new media talks and shows around town and I've been hoping to catch her work for a while. I will definitely try to make this event. Details are below.

Ogechi Chieke is a New York artist based whose productions encompass performance art, dance, film and animation. She is currently earning her MFA in Computer Art at the School of Visual Arts. Ogechi's work has been shown in cities internationallly including Tokyo, Washington D.C., Minneapolis, and Pittsburgh, PA . Her work, "Thee Creation Theory" will be screened at Mushroom Arts, NYC December 15 & 16, 2005.

Description: "Thee Creation Theory" is an impressionistic visualization of a time before time. It's a symbolic representation of the first birth:
From the blackness of the void, a star is born complete. As the liquid elements of life, blood and milk, mix and melt away, the first woman, a primordial "Eve" is revealed. To be continued...
