Granny Peace Brigade

Mother/Sister Sonia Sanchez alerted us that she had been arrested for attempting to enlist at a Philadelphia military recruitment center with other grandmothers. They asked to be sent to Iraq in place of their (or all of our) grandchildren. They were charged with trespassing and went to trial in Philadelphia last Friday. Sanchez has long been a model for me of how to live powerfully, with a full vision of how to use what you have to do what you can. Tara Betts reports that all members of the Granny Peace Brigade were acquitted.

Yes, professor Sanchez is a soldier. I commend all of those who participated. She spoke aobut this here in DC a couple of weeks before her trial. Actually, it was at Vertigo Books near the University of Maryland. She's wonderful! By the way, hello!

what an inspiration mother sanchez is. i had the honor of meeting her for the first time at my alma mater, paine college, and was blessed to sit one-on-one with her. thanks for sharing this mendi.
