Nam June Paik passed away Sunday. He got so many things right that he is more to me than an artist whose work I know. His work moves me in the places where I laugh and experience awe -- which are not necessarily the same places, but not necessarily different, either. When I first saw "Zen for TV" in person I couldn't take my eyes off it. Why does his work hit me in the gut? I'm still meditating on the answer. I want to say so much but can't do it yet. All I can say is "thanks".
